Nigel Date - Jazz Guitarist

Nigel has worked as a guitar player for over 20 years. He has performed at major jazz festivals world wide including The Cork International Jazz Festival in Ireland, The Bay of Islands Jazz Festival in New Zealand, The Gypsy Guitar Festival in New Caledonia, Sydney Darling Harbour Jazz Festival and Wangaratta Jazz Festival, as well as numerous radio and TV appearances and 1000s of gigs around Australia with some of the country’s finest jazz musicians.

Nigel plays an acoustic solo jazz guitar style that owes a lot to the influence of the legendary gypsy Django Reinhardt. It is an ever more popular style of guitar known these days as ‘gypsy jazz’. It is a European style of playing American popular works of the 1930s and 1940s to create a beautiful atmosphere of passionate, uplifting happy melody and vibe.

Nigel performs as a solo instrumentalist as well as a trio of guitar, double bass and saxaphone/clarinet.
